What is Vegas Pro?

Vegas Pro is one of many popular Non-Linar Video Editing (NLE) software. You may have heard of it as 'Sony Vegas Pro" (SVP) or "Sony Vegas". This is because it used to be owned by Sony for 13 years until it got sold to MAGIX Software in 2016, making Vegas Pro 13 the last "Sony Vegas".

It has originally started as an audio only editor with the same non linear multi track features we see to this day. This means you can use Vegas Pro to create music but there are limitations as MIDI files are not supported by Vegas Pro. For example, FL Studio which is a software that has this capability.

Ever since the new ownership, new versions of Vegas Pro have been released every August since Vegas Pro 15 with the latest being Vegas Pro 21 which was released on 14th August 2023.
